into the shadow
while she speaks about the sea
all my life
of course
that's what humans do
not enough love
if only

PRODUCTION NOTES: This was the soundtrack for a documentary about ocean estuaries. It played in the background behind the female narrator — literally, while she spoke about the sea. The music needed to suggest waves, which it does, I think. But I've learned that the key to composing successful soundtracks is knowing when to keep the music in the background (say, for the first 30 seconds, while the narrator speaks), then livening up the musical activity during lulls in the narration.
